Working 7 hours a day is ideal time for work. If a person works for 10 hours a day risk of heart attack increases 60%. It suggests that working overtime is directly linked with poor health and may result in a heart diseas. When a person experience chest pain and if he is working 10 hours or more a day, he should contact doctor immediately.
Persons working 11-12 hours a day are more prone to coronary heart diseases. Overtime work and generally stress go together and both jointly is more riskier. They also develop symptoms of psycological stress like short tempered behaviour and they may not get sound sleep even.
This study was carried in Britain. This may not apply to all countries, particularly like India where 10-12 working hours a day is common. It also depends on type of your work, how you love your work, how you face stress, and overall how sound your sleep is.
