Medical use of Chocolate

A spanish study found that antioxidant-rich dark chocolate can help lower blood pressure in the liver and reduce damage to blood vessels in people with cirrhosis, a potentially fatal scarring of the liver that can lead to organ failure and cancer.

When a dark chocolate is given to a patient with end-stage liver disease, a smaller increase in blood pressure is recorded. Cocoa, used in making chocolate, is packed with flavonoids, plant pigments that act as anti-oxidants which also improves blood circulation in obese people and ward off heart disease in smokers. The chocolates used in strudy was mad eof 85% cocoa. And chocolate with high sugars will not be useful at all. So use good-quality chocolate.

Torn blood vessels after meal are at risk for liver cirrhosis patients, whose blood vessels must cope with blood pressure spikes after meal.

About 25% of heacy drinkers develop alcoholic cirrhosis which a final stage of alcoholic liver disease. Instead of eating dark chocolate, it is safe not to drink.
